Dose he have rights

my son is in the kent count jail a waiting trail on fleeing,obstruction,resisting he has a court appt.lawyer that dose not seem to have time for him, this lawyer has not talking to him once and the case is 2 years old he got charge with the fleeing because he was not told about a court date when he fould out there was a warrent he turn him self in he was given bail but can't aford it. he was to have a trail on 9/30/02 but he was not taken to court, he has now ben in jail for 52 days and has know idea when thay will take him to court, is there a way to get a nother lawyer? and what is a speedy trial?,what dose the right to a lawyer give him if the lawyer dose't show for the court date? the lawyer has made one of 6 court dates and that one he was an hour late for.

Your son's right to a speedy trial are certainly being violated in my opinion. However, there may be procedural issues with his case. Should you seek other counsel, I recommend you contact counsel immediately and have with you ALL documents in your son's file. The file is located in the Court.
