Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

warrant for arrest

Already had search warrant of home, police wanted to work out a deal to reveal drug dealers in area to reduce my charges. Did not want deal and decided to obtain a lawyer. How long before warrant for arrest is done? How long do police have to issue this warrant? It has been several weeks since the search.

Re: warrant for arrest

It can take months and sometimes even years before the police may seek authorization on a an arrest warrant. A delay of a few weeks is not out of the ordinary. Since you know that the police are on to you you should be extremely careful always keeping in mind that they are watching you closely. Have your attorney contact the detective that is handling your case to schedule a time for you to turn yourself in rather then have you arrested at work or at home - after a complaint has been authorized. This way you stand a better chance of having a reasonable bond set at arraignment. Good luck.
