Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Can a court hold a hearing when the court did not set a date for that hearing? The Plaintiff's Lawyer asked for a date, but the court did not set one, but held a court hearing on the date as the Lawyer asked. Is this lawful?

Generally the party who files the Motion schedules the hearing date not the court. However the party scheduling the hearing must provide you with enought notice prior to the hearing date. If you missed a court date you need to contact the other attorney and most likely hire your own attorney to represent you.
