Re: divorice

It depends: First, either for a divorce or for a separation, the court may require either party to pay alimony for the suitable maintenance of the adverse party. Thus, the court will look at your situation (including your health) and may award a sum of money thats proper and necessary to conserve your real or personal property as well as any sums necessary to enable you to carry on or defend the divorce action. Second, the purpose of property division upon divorce is to divide the property of the spouses so that each gets what equitably ought to be his or hers. Finally, the court has the power to award a party part or total ownership in a piece of property (e.g., a car) if it appears from the evidence in the case that the party contributed to the acquisition, improvement, or accumulation of the property.
