Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Leaving child with relatives

I am a single mother with a small child (Her father has not been in the picture for 4 years and we were never married) and I will be taking a vacation without her and be leaving her with my parents. Is there any legal documentation that I need to specify my wishes that if something should happen to me I would like for them to be her guardians?

Re: Leaving child with relatives

Absolutely, you should prepare a will and maybe even a trust. But at least a will specifying your wishes if something were to happen to you.
