Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

I want to move out of Michigan. I have sole physical custody of my son but joint legal custody with my ex. I have never denied my ex visitation rights, however he chose to hardly ever see his son and he doesn't talk to him. My ex doesn't even live in Michigan. Do I still have to get his permission to move my son out of state? And if I do, is it alright if it's verbal permission in order for me to enroll him in school or does it absolutely have to be in writing before I can enroll him?

You need to obtain written permission from your ex or a court order.
