Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Relocating w/child

I am the custodial parent of my son. Recently, my son's father & I went to court I he was awarded joint custody due to custody never being established. I got a new job & moved out of state. He didn't have a problem with it if I agreed to reducing child support. The change request was submitted & returned by the court. I haven't heard anything else since then. No, I have a court appearance in a few days due to him submitting a request to reduce support for my son & a daughter he has. He just had another baby & now says that he can no longer afford to pay the amount the support order states. Would I be in contempt of court if I show up? Should I be worried about support being reduced?

Yes, indeed, you should be concerned that your support may well be reduced due to the recent increase in the size of your former husband's current family, but, I don't see why you should be concerned about being found in contempt of court if you attend the hearing on his motion to reduce your support.
