Spousal Abandonment

I am currently working in Michigan my wife went to IL to get a job. She took our child with when she arrived in Chicago she informed me she had no intentions of coming back. Can she be charged with spousal abandonment?

Re: Spousal Abandonment

You can certainly use that as grounds for a divorce, but I don't think it's going to accomplish what you want it to accomplish. You may be able to use it against her in a custody battle, but it will be an uphill battle, especially if she's been there for any length of time. You should consult a family law attorney as soon as possible. If you want an attorney licensed both in Michigan and Illinois, I happen to be licensed in both states.
