Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

Defamation of Character

Please don't minimize my question. There is a person on ''myspace'' who got personal information about me...my full name, medications I take and what they are for and posts this on her page for all to see. Do I have any rights? This information was obtained either by her breaking into my home and going through my personal belongings or someone in the household gave her this information. What can I do? I need help right away and attorney if I need one. Thank you so very very much!

Re: Defamation of Character

You would start by sending her a cease and desist letter. If she doesn't retract it, then you would have to file suit to get it taken down by court order. If you have damages and are collectible, then going after her for damages would be the next step. Visit me at www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz

Re: Defamation of Character

If the information is true, then it is not defamatory or slander. Rude, yes, but illegal, not likely. I'd contact the administrator of myspace and ask that the information be deleted/removed from the website.
