Does a employer automatically own apatent.
A person invents a device to improve a manufacturing process. When the patent is ready to be granted can the employer force the employee to surrender his rights of ownership for $1 or be terminated

It depends on:
1. if empoyee signed an agreement to do so when hiring in or at another time;
2. if invention relates to employer's present product line or products related thereto;
3. if invention was made on the job and/or with employer's materials and resources;
4. etc.
