Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Harrassment

I am constantly given a ''hard time'' verbally by one employee that I work with. I have asked him to stop & he said no. I then went to a supervisor to explain the situation, and he still won't stop. I will be speaking to the business owner later on today, but I have doubts about the pending results.

I started a journal a week ago to describe the harrassment, and I am at a point where I feel I will explode. My job is a seasonal bartender, so I can't afford to quit and walk away at this time. I only need to work two more months, but the harrassment is literally every day...

I would like to know what would be the best thing to do... I have never sued someone before, but this seems to be the only option left. I just want to work in peace... and have a good recommendation when I leave. What can I do?

Re: Harrassment

Every one in this great free country of ours has the God given right to behave like a miserable asshole as long as its not illegal. Unless your co-worker is harassing you sexually (or for some other legally protected reason which you have not divulged) you have no legal right to get him to stop.

Your supervisor seems to value this person as an employee. You may be amazed to know that if you complain loud and long enough about him, you may be the person who gets fired - and lawfully fired at that!

Its a test of character to make the best out of a bad situation. You can accept the challenge or find another job.
