Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Michigan

Hospital turned away patient

My father in law is a dylasis patient. He had his ''port'' cleaned out at U of M hospital in Ann Arbor. Three days later his arm and all down the side of his torso were purple. Concerned he went to a local hospital. Turns out ''port'' was punctured and he was bleeding internally. Local hospital said they didn't know what to do for him and sent him home. He went back to U of M and they took care of him. A ''suit'' from the local hospital called him a few days later wanting to set up appt to talk about the issue and offered apologies for incident. Wouldn't this be grounds for malpractice or neglect in some manor. We called an attorney who was extremely rude and wouldn't talk to us since he ''didn't die'' from his injuries. Please help advise if we could seek advice from another attorney and that we have grounds for legal complaint.

Re: Hospital turned away patient

The "suit" was likely an attorney from the risk management department of the hospital. It is a telling move to have made such a contact. This being the case, I would refrain from contact and allow an attorney to request the medical records and have their experts review to see if there is a case. I used to represent hospitals and doctors and would be glad to refer you to an expert plaintiff / patient medical malpractice attorney.
