Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Contract to cohabitate real estate agreement

I own property and my boyfriend who has been with me several years wishes to have an interest in the property and a contract stating he has 50% upon seperation or sale of said property. Can he make me sell or buy him out if I only give 49% with me having controlling rights of 51%, I still have a mortgage, and wonder how this can drawn up to protect myself.

Yes, he can get a court order requiring that the property be sold, even if his interest is less than 50%. If this is about a loan from him to you, you can sign a promissory note and use the property as collateral. There are numerous ways to deal with your situation.
