Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

eviction laws in michigan

i am in the process of purchasing a home from my mother via land contract. i have lived in this house my entire life, and she has since moved out to live with her new husband. two months before we signed the land contract, she allowed my brother to move into the home. my question is, now that i have my name on the house title, what is the legal process required to evict him? he had changed his mailing adress to the house immediatly after moving in, and i was told this gives him a legal claim to residency in the home.

Re: eviction laws in michigan

You would file a trespassing action requesting an order removing him from the house and any damages caused. You should contact an attorney in your area a stern letter or call to you brother may do the job.
