Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Threats to cancel my listing

My agent said she would cancel my listing if I didn't apologize for the tone of voice I was using. I apologized even though my tone was calm and collect. She then stated my house should be listed x$$$ lower I told her that would not happen and then she again told me that she would be taking my house off the market. Are these bullying tactics allowed in the realtor code of ethics? Can she remove my listing without my authorization?

Re: Threats to cancel my listing

Absolutely not! This is very unethical behavior. You have a listing contract and you are entitled to the terms of the listing contract. Furthermore, you state the listing price as owner of the property.

She has breached your agency agreement and you can get out of the listing without damages if you so choose.

Reporting options include: her broker, Greater Lansing Association of Realtors, Michigan Association of Realtors, Department Labor and Economic Growth. Tell them you want to lodge a complaint.
