Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Michigan

Sexual harassment Michigan

I work for a large company and have

recently complained, verbally initially

and then in writing, about a

coworker who says rude, sexually &

racially disturbing things and has

made very unwelcome physical

contact with me. On the day I

verbally complained, the accused

brought me a gift cert. at work and

acted strangely. He kept asking ''are

we alright?'' I have felt that HR tried

to convince me to accept the g.c.

despite the fact that they tell me

there is a company policy on gifts in

addition to the policy on sexual

harassment. Anyways, I am very

uncomfortable about the way that

HR has handled it. They sat with

both him and myself only after I put

it in writing and I was asked to leave

after my complaint was reviewed. I

have seen no discipline, am still

expected to work with the other

employee and have not received a

written response from HR after a

month, even though I have

requested it. What do I do???

Obviously, this is the short version...

Re: Sexual harassment Michigan

We handle cases like this and it sounds as if you have a claim. Make sure there is a documented, written complaint to human resources, and that you save a copy of the complaint. Then, we can help you with filing for money damages with the state or federal agency. Feel free to call our offices or e-mail me directly.

Re: Sexual harassment Michigan

Write up another complaint referencing the first and this time file it with the EEO at the same time.

Try to mediate the complaint as well, because although they handled it poorly, there might still be something to salvage.
