Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Bonds found after 4 years

I recently found $5000 worth of us bonds

in my mom and dads name. They passed

away 5 years ago and did not go thru

probate. (Everything was in mine and

brothers name or beneficiary etc.)

Do I have to file probate to get these

bonds assigned to someone else? Is it

too late? Is it worth it?

Re: Bonds found after 4 years

Yes, without a trust for the bonds to flow into, and no named beneficiary to receive U.S. Bonds, they would require a probate estate.

Good luck and if you need please contact us directly we would be happy to assist.
