Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Drug Legal Question

I stoped in at a buddys house to visit on a bike ride and he ended up doing a drug deal to a police informant. I later find out the house was raided and my named was on the search warrant as well. I had nothing to do with the deal what so ever. What could happen and should I be worrying?

Re: Drug Legal Question

Your answer depends on why your name was listed on the search warrant. You are advised NOT to speak with police before FIRST speaking to a LAWYER. Many people in this situation feel if they just talk with police everything will be fine. However, the police are not necessarily on your side here, and may simply hope you provide them incriminating details about you or someone else.

Bottom line: If police ask to interview you - speak to a lawyer first. If you feel you may charged with a drug crime - speak to a lawyer NOW to assist in pre-charging investigation.

Re: Drug Legal Question

Without knowing all of the facts, your question is difficult to answer. Certainly, it is apparent that the investigation is focusing on you. WIthout knowing what transpired, opining about defenses is not possible.

One thing that you should know is that you should make NO STATEMENTS to police. You have a right to remain silent and should exercise it.
