Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Changing a minors last name

Can I change my babies last name to mine, I recently had a daughter and gave her the last name of the man I thought was her father, turns out he's not the biological father, I want to change her last name from his to mine... Is this possible and does he have to know for me to do it...

You have to petition the court to do this. You need to notify the biological father (if he has been adjudicated). I suggest you consult with an attorney.

You don't have to notify the man who you thought was the father because he has no interest in the child.

Again, talk to an attorney in your home town.
