Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

HRO Question

I have a unique issue here and I am very embarrassed and ashamed as well. About a year and a half ago my long term boyfriend of 16 years and I broke up (we have a 12 year old son), he was never abusive or anything. Anyways he was having an affair with another women and that is why he left (he left for her). Well starting almost immediately she was calling sometime 40 to 50 times per day and either hanging up or leaving horrid voice mails (nothing ever threatening, just detailed sex exploits and things along the lines of how he does not love us but only her, etc...) I have had to change my number 3 times, and she still to this day is calling and sending texts messages. They are now broken up but she still continues. The thing is, she is blocking her number and sending anon texts from the internet. She is very smart to cover her tracks. I really want to get a harassment restraining order on her but I am nervous that because I have no 'actual' proof besides my call logs, printed texts, etc that go back for 15 months now.

However my ex is very supportive of me getting this done and will back me up and go to court with me as a witness stating she is the one calling and so on.

Re: HRO Question

You would need some verification that she is, in fact, the person making the contact. Any indication from yoru ex that she has mentioned such behavior or that he has observed it would likely be sufficient to support the order.

Re: HRO Question

If you assert the facts contained in your message, you are likely to succeed in obtaining a Harassment Restraining Order in court. The court's issuance of the HRO ought to have at least some likelihood of deterring her from harassing acts in the future.
