Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Unmarried parent child support responsibilities

I was never married to the child's mother but I signed a paternity form. No child support was awarded. The child is now 16 and demanding child support money. What financial responsibilities do I have? Can my home be attached for any reason? Can she file for support?

Re: Unmarried parent child support responsibilities

She may file an action to confirm paternity and seeking child support. Child suppoytr may also be back dated for the two years preceeding the filing of the motion. This means that the Court may calculate child support that should have been paid for the last two years and require its payment.

Child support for one child is based on 25% of net income.
