Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Worker's Comp settlement

I am involved in a work comp case and might be receiving a settlement for a workplace injury. I also may be getting divorced, but haven't received the papers as of yet. My question is.....is a work comp settlement divisable in a Minnesota divorce case? Or does the money stay only with and for the injured person?

Re: Worker's Comp settlement

You need a family law attorney. Maybe your worker's comp attorney can help you find a good family law attorney in your area.

Generally speaking, most of the worker's comp settlement money belongs to the employee, but there are some exceptions. The family law attorney whom you select would need to consult with your worker's comp attorney.
