Can I get fired?

Can I get fired by my employer because I am still in probation at my new job but my son needs eye surgery?

Short answer is yes. Long answer is, it depends.

You should consult your employer's benefits/HR person in advance to see what the requirements for FMLA (if the firm has to comply with it at all) are.
