Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

legal termination pay

I worked for a company that implemented drug testing 4 months after I started. They randomly tested on a Tuesday. I told them the next day that my results may be positive. They told me to not come to work until they receive the results. They received the results on the following Wednesday. I went in on that day and signed a resignation paper so they would not have to fire me. My final check only paid me through the original Tuesday of the test. Am I not intitled to get paid through the day that I signed the resignation paper??? I realize I cannot collect unemployment, but I feel like they are not paying me my final check correctly, I was a salaried employee, not hourly.

Re: legal termination pay

I would have to review your Employee Handbook as well as the newly implemented policy.

Normally, there is a notice period in which employees should be notified of the policy and an opportunity to raise issues, such as presciption drug administration and the ability to raise challenges, such as false positives.
