Re: divorce/ house

Although it is a simple document, you should have a lawyer prepare the quit claim deed. It is simple, but still easy to screw up.

Most divorce decrees have a provision that says something to the effect that if the person who is supposed to provide a deed does not do so, a certified copy of the Decree will transfer title. So if he won't do a deed, you might be able to get by without one. Look at your Decree to see if it has such language. If you can't tell for sure, consult a lawyer.
