Legal Question in Workers Comp in Minnesota

Do I have to let the assigned nurse be at my appointments?

I injured my neck and shoulder at work lifting a patient who was choking on medication i had administared. this was in april, it is now feb and i am still not healed! apparently the disks in my neck have been torn. i have had my eyes opened to the 'work comp game'. apparently the insurance is not for the worker. as it sits now, the insurance co. is staring to deny anything and everything. i have paid a lot out of my own pocket. they have informed me i am to have a nurse accompany me to all my appointments (which they are denying payment for).i let her accompany me to 3 appointments. i have been told by this nurse that she is there to ensure that i understand the physicians recomendations. I am A NURSE !! if work comp ins co want to not spend extra money, why do i need this under qualified nurse following me around? i believe i can understand the physicians well, i communicate with them on a regular basis. do i have to have her continue? do i have the right to get rid of her? when first we met, she told me i could refuse her service. when i told her i did not want her at my appointments, she said work comp informed her she must accompany me.

You should get a QRC assigned. You can pick your QRC. I know QRCs that are fair. If a QRC is on the case, then a nurse cannot go to your appointments. I think you can still insist that the nurse not be present. call me and I may be able to get you a name of a good qrc. 5076253000.
