Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Mississippi

theft

I made a deal, over the internet, with a person in Mississippi to trade some electronic epuipment for a piece of musical equipment. I sent my stuff to him but he never sent his to me. He finally admitted that he didn't have the stuff and said that he would send mine back. He only sent part of it back and kept the most expensive part. Is there anything I can do to get the rest back or make him pay for it?

Re: theft

The only thing I would advise would be to get in touch with the authorities in the community where this individual lives, file a complaint, and have them investigate.

Re: theft

Your contact has used interstate telephone lines to commit a crime. That is a federal offense. You might ask him if he has ever done anything like this before and what he told the federal authorities the last time. He might get motivated to return your mdse. If not, you have no choice but to report this to the FBI.
