Adding name to title

My mother would like to add my stepfather's name to the title of her/their home. There is still a mortgage on the home. What is the best way for her to do this?

She may not be able to do it. The mortgage may have a "due on sale" clause which would accelerate the loan amount if they find you she has transferred part of an interest in the property. She should have the mortgage documents reviewed by a local attorney. If there is no problem, as the attorney can tell her, she simply signs a quitclaim deed.
