I just lost my husband and just found out that he had several credit cards. in his name only. Am I legal for them?

The debts are those of the estate, and if you did not sign the applications and if you did not sign using the cards, then you have no liabiity. If your husband had assets that have to be probated (like land, etc.) then the creditor may make a claim against the probate estate. If everything passed outside of probate then it is likely that the creditor will not even bother.
