Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

I currently have garnishments against my pay check for Child support and credit cards. I was ok with this as long as my wife was working. It was a way to get them paid and we were getting by ok. Now she is sick and unable to work. Health insurance is 160.00 per week, Child support is 78.00 per week, with other deductions in a regular 40 hour week I bring home about 200.00 per week. The more over time I work the more that gets held out. I am told that the way it works is that they can hold out 25 -50% of disposable income. Is there some way to stop the credit card garnishment at least temporarily. Or get the amount cut down.

Thanks

Tim

If you claim to be head of household, then the amount withheld should go down to 10% .

The HR department at your employer may be able to help you make that claim.

Good luck
