Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

My currently husband, soon to be ex husband forged my name on a student loan with sallie mae for 16,000.00 without my consent. The are not "wet" signatures only electronic signatures. although this happened while we were married, am I held responsible for loans that he took out and forged my name unknowinly?

If you think a forgery has occurred, tell the other party (Sallie Mae) ASAP. You might also need to file a police report. If you do not, then you mihgt be found liable later, as you would appear to allow the forgery to fester,. A court could find that you accepted the respnsibility for the debt by not taking appropriate steps, after you learned of their reliance on your alleged signature.
