Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

I received a summons to appear in court for non payment of a payday loan. How should I proceed? Can I receive jail time? Can I somehow still resolve the money issue?

If the summons was attached to a Petition and the creditor is simply sueing you for money, then you cannot go to jail on that case. If the "summons" was issued as a part of a criminal case against you, then the response would be diferent. You need to consult with and probably hire an attorney to review the documents and advise you. If it is a civil matter then the attorney may be able to save you more money than he or she costs you in attorney's fees.
