Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

statue on medical bills?

I received a letter from a collection agency about 3mths ago regarding a bill from 1996. I never reveived a bill from the physicians office nor was it filed with my insurance at that time.I ask for a copy of the bills and my signature where I approved these charges. They sent the bill and thats it. I'm not for sure what my next step should be.I was going to offer to pay my deductible for that time but I'm not convinced that all the chargrs are mine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: statue on medical bills?

Send the bill collector a letter stating that you contest the alleged debt, and are demanding that they verify it.
