Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

I was pulled over tonight because my car hadn't been registered since it's purchase date, over two months ago. While pulled over for that, I was charged for possession of less than 35 grams for marijuana. One, will I get points for the car not being registered, and two, for a first offense, how much should i anticipate this costing me ( the marijuana,) and would there be any jail associated with this?

Thank you for your time

If you are convicted on the tags charge, you will get points. The possession charge could result in six months jail time, but first timers often get less. You should consult directly with a defense attorney in your area. They could prevent you having any points or jail time. But, they will need access to more of the specific facts of your matter, then you were able to provide here.

Good luck

I agree that you need to hire a lawyer. The bad tags charge can be dismissed if you are currently properly registered. You may be facing jail time on the drug charge, but an attorney can help you avoid that, and may be able to avoid the conviction. I have handled hundreds of these cases over the last 35 years, and you may call me for a free telephone consultation.
