Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

Unaware of Cocaine Possession

I am being charged with cocaine, and I couldnt figure out why. I was caught with two hits of ACID. Prosecutors re-tested the two small pieces of paper, to find no trace of LSD, but only traces of cocaine. Knowing you have a certain drug is part of possessing it, right? If they are right, then what I had was obviously fake LSD. I'll never know how cocaine got on it. How can they charge me with a non-usable amount? I didn't even have any cocaine paraphenalia! Is there some way to prove to the court that I didn't know of the cocaines 'prescence and illegal nature'? I have a public defender who could care less about my case and I can't afford a lawyer. Please help! Thankyou --name removed--

Re: Unaware of Cocaine Possession

It sounds to me like there are a number of things that could be done in your defense. But, you claim that you can not afford a private attorney. As serious as the consequences will be if you do not receive the best defense possible, it appears to me that you would be wise to find a way to afford a private attorney.
