Legal Question in DUI Law in Missouri

Limited Driving

I am now allowed to apply for limited driving privleges in the state of Missouri after 2 years. My 2 years was over as of the 29th of June. Missouri passed a law effective July 1st, that requires anyone needing to reinstate their licence ot have a device installed in their car that will not start if alcohol is present. My insurance policy states that I may drive all 3 of the family vehicles. Am I required to put this device in all of my family cars, one in which is my sons? Only one vehicle is in my name.

Re: Limited Driving

To be clear, the law you are referring to is MO Statute 302.304 paragraph 17. This new requirement does NOT apply to "anyone needing to reinstate their license", but only to those who have been convicted of two or more alcohol related offenses as defined under 302.302 paragraph 9. That includes DWIs and DUIs. As I understand it if you fall into that category you will be required to install the interlocking ignition device on all vehicles that are under your control under the assumption that if a vehicle is within your control you would be able to drive it. You should have gotten reinstated on June 29th or 30th as soon as you were eligible to avoid taking on this enormous expense.
