Child Custody

My finace just found out he had an 8 yr old son. Now after a month the mother isn't letting them speak. If he took it to court to get legal rights is there any way he could get full custody or split (where they have to alternate weekly)?

Yes. He should hire an attorney to file a Petition to Determine Paternity, and he should obtain a DNA test to be sure that he is the biological father. Then, in the same lawsuit he can obtain a Court Order dealing with the issues of legal custody, physical custody, child support and others.
