Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Paternity/child support

My son has just received papers from an ex-girlfriend re: child support on their child who is almost 1 yr. My son's name is on the birth certificate, but their is some question if he is the father. At the time he did not want to believe that the child was not his so he did not do anything (bad idea? probably). Anyway, how do we go about getting a paternity test? Do we have to go through the child support office? Can we go through the local hospital? Does he have to pay if their is some question re: the paternity until a test is done?

Re: Paternity/child support

Your son needs an attorney. Does he want to pay child support for up to twenty-one years plus possibly college expenses, the cost of medical insurance and one-half of any uncovered medical expense, and other money for a child that is not even his? A court can order the DNA test and also enter orders determining court enforceable rights of visitation and temporary custody to be enjoyed by your son if he is the father. Please consult with an attorney. If you do not already have an attorney, you may call me for a consultation. I have handled hundred sof these cases in the last thirty years.
