Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

My ex is supposed to pay half of my kids' braces bill. He was not even paying child support when my daughter got her braces and they ended up having to garness his wages and go for back child support. Even though her braces are paid for now, can I still get him to pay for his half of her braces?

You can probably get reimbursed for his half. But, you may noit be able to piggyback onto the present, past support garnishment, to get it. You may not want to. If you sue him for the portion of his braces obligation that youn paid, you might be able to get a second garnishment going. You need to consult directly with legal counsel in your area. Many attorn eys offer a free or low cost initial consulttion.

Good luck

Yes, if your ex is Ordered to pay for one-half of the braces and is able to do so but refuses, you may want to take him back to Court on a Motion for Contempt. In many cases we are able to get the Judge to award attorney's fees to a person in your situation. I would be happy to offer you a free telephone consultation, and may be able to offer my services to you for a modest fee if you are in my area. Please feel free to contact me.
