Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

Harassment of a minor child

My 16yr daughter has continually been stalked and given derogitory and lewd notes from her exboyfriend and his new girlfriend. I also just found out that he tried to for sex on her. I want to know what I can do legally as a parent to put a stop to this once and for all.

Re: Harassment of a minor child

Go immediately to the courthouse in your county and have your daughter seek an order of protection against this person. She shoulds tate that she is afraid of this person because he has continually harassed her through a series of acts, and that she is afraid of him because he tried to force her to have sex. She will need to see the judge, who will verify her complaints (He'll say "is this what happened, are you afraid of this person, and do you want me to issue an order of protection?" She says yes and the order is issued). She then gets a court date to appear in about 10 days where she is sworn in, testifies to what happened, and the court will enter an order of protection for one year. The clerk is required by state law to help you fill out the forms. There is no cost for this.

Do this immediately. The sheriff will serve the boyfriend and the girlfriend and if they continue in this harassment they can be jailed.

Good luck!
