Yes it is very difficult to separate the legal issues from the business/marketing hype. My understanding is that it would be legal to buy them while abroad and bring them back, as long as you are obviously only bringing them back for yourself and not for sale to others. I haven't researched this issue, but the pharmaceutical companies negotiate prices with foreign governments or industry monopolies when then negotiate licenses to make their products. Often the result is a lower retail price than here in the US. Of course, you are always taking a serious risk (my opinion, again) when you buy and use drugs. The people in each country tend to believe that their domestic supplies are safer than those found abroad, but my experience is that quality varies per product more than per country or even manufacturer. Tap water in Vienna, Austria is literally as pure as a mountain spring, while here we filter or buy bottled. I also prefer Mexican asprin (chewable and better taste)and Coca Cola (sugar instead of corn syrup). I would avoid bringing more than a personal supply of any legal drugs.
