Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri

Forged Signature

I just got out of a lease by finding subleasers to my apartment. I received my security deposit and it was $450 short. I called my landlord and she claimed that I signed a document that I would pay back the $450 cash incentive if I vacated before the time. She faxed it to me and the document has my signature forged on the bottom. I went through my paperwork and found the original that I did sign and it is the same but the sentence that says that I would owe that money has been added to the forged document. What can I do? I really just want my money back.

Re: Forged Signature

Share your copy with them. They should relent. However, if they do not, it probably is not worth hiring an attorney, except to help you draft a small claims complaint.

Good Luck
