Legal Question in Military Law in Missouri

A default judgement for possession was awarded to our previous landlord, although they petitioned for monies also. A non monetary judgement was awarded, but the landlord has turned me over to a collection agency, so now I have bad credit. Can they do this? I am in the military and was overseas at the time of this judgement.

My former wife and her boyfriend lived in the apartment, I never received a key. She signed my name by POA to the lease.

Can this judgement be revived and they come after me for the money?

If the judgement was just for possession, then there may be no money to collect from you. A purely possession judgement, is not usually revived. If you were not served in the suit, you may be able to get the judgement against you set aside. If the landlord has possession of the apartment, they may not oppose your Motion. You need to consuly directly with an attorney in your area, so that you cand get advice based upon the facts of your situation.

Good luck
