Hi. I am a Missouri injury attorney that focuses my practice primarily on workers' compensation claims, as well as general personal injury cases.

In Missouri, if the accident occurred "in the course and scope of employment", then the employer is required to file a report of injury, informing its insurance carrier and the Division of Workers' Compensation that you were injured on the job. Under the workers' compensation laws, you are entitled to payment for all treatment that is related to the work injury that you suffered. Moreover, you are entiled to payment for the time you missed from work due to the injury. In some instances, employers do not properly report the injury. Often, a Claim for Compensation has to be filed and an attorney has to negotiate with the insurance company to make sure that you receive the numerous benefits you are entitled to under the law, including payment for time missed from work.

A few additional details are needed to assess your situation, such as whether you informed your employer of the injury, or whether they were otherwise aware of the injury. Were you released from work by a doctor, or did you take the time off on your own? Also, the type of injury you suffered is relevant, in order to be certain that it was caused by your work activities. I am assuming that it was, since you mentioned it was in fact a "work related accident".

I can be reached via e-mail at [email protected]. Thank you.
