Legal Question in Consumer Law in Nebraska

Business Dishonesty

My truck currently had a stereo system installed. The business that installed it told me of

a ''minor'' accident in which they had to replace the carpet but they would take care of it.

When I got my tuck back the inside has been replaced and what wasn't is fire damaged from a

fire that they failed to mention to me. I have been trying to contact the manager/owner

but convienently he is always out. They didn't even install the correct parts that they

replaced and have lowered the value of my vehicle. Should I handle this legally and how?

Who should I contact? A lawyer? Small Claims court? Better Business Bureau?

Re: Business Dishonesty

The answer depends on how much the damage would cost to fix. If it is $2700 or less, then small claims court may be the best route to go. Make sure you get an estimate to repair the damage, three estimates would be better. Show pictures of the damage. Make a journal of the conversations you had with the employees of this business including dates and times. If anyone was with you, bring them as a witness. Yes, you could register a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If the damage is over $2700, you should contact your own insurance company first if you have comprehensive coverage on your truck. The deductible you will have to pay your insurance company is cheaper than paying an attorney most of the time. If it is over $2700 and you don't have comprehensive insurance, then you should contact an attorney.
