Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nebraska

Contract

I signed an application 1-2007. Ended up going somewhere else. Now this company is sending me $300 cancellation fee and a threat of ruining my credit. Can they do this?

I'd need a little more information to answer this question. What was the application for? Was the cancellation fee listed in the application, or were you otherwise advised of it?

The company shouldn't be threatening you but is allowed to tell you if it is planning to take action permissible by law (reporting a valid debt to a credit bureau is permissible) so is there something else to the "threat"?
