Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Nebraska

eviction

I was forced to leave my home when my boyfriend became violent. I own the home not him, but he will not leave and it is not safe for me there. Do I have to give him an eviction notice if he never signed a lease? how do I get him out?

Re: eviction

You appear to be a victim of, or susceptible to, domestic violence. There are a number of support groups in the Lincoln area to help you through the difficulty you are facing. Probably the best solution to removing the boyfriend is to go down to the court house and request a protection order. Once you have the order, the police will remove your boyfriend if he doesn't leave voluntarily. This is a self-help process, you do not need an attorney to do this. It may be helpful to have one of the counselors with a domestic violence support group go with you and walk you through the process. Whether you seek help through a support group or do this on your own; remember that your own personal safety is more important than any type of property. Be safe, be careful, ask for help.
