Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Nevada

I filed bankruptcy, chapter 7 in 2010, I was told I needed to file a copy of my 2010 federal tax returns with my Trustee. I have called and searched the website and been unable to find out how I am to do this. Is there a procedure? A form for filing my tax returns? A phone number I can Call for help? My tax refund is frozen by the courts and as a single parent, I really need the money. Thank you.

Hello:

Whether it was frozen or not does not mean you did not file. Go to the local IRS and order a copy.

You don't file your tax return with the Trustee, you provide the Trustee with a copy of your return. The Trustee then can decide how much, if any, of the refund belongs to you, and how much belongs to your creditors through the bankruptcy estate.

Your Trustee's name & mailing address is on the original bankruptcy notice the Court mailed to you. The sooner you provide the Trustee with a copy of the return, the sooner the Trustee can make the decision about whether you are entitled to receive any portion of the refund check.
