Legal Question in Business Law in Nevada

Failure to deliver purchased goods

I purchased furniture from a liquidator doing business in the state of Nevada, they said that they would ship the items to my home in Florida, we agreed on a shipping price. After months of waiting, they said later it would be very expensive to ship ( more than the cost of the furniture) and that they had sold it to someone else. I asked for my money back, they refused saying it was payment for storage and for their efforts of trying to ship it. I filed a BBB report, they would not respond to them. How can I get my money back (without having to go back to NV), and what is the statute of limitations to do so?

It appears you were cheated. Consult with a lawyer in person. There may be a way to file suit in Florida since the company appears to have been doing business in Florida or, alternatively, you may have to file your claim in Nevada, in which case you would need to consult with and retain the services of a Nevada lawyer. Without learning more of the facts and reviewing any documentation relating to your dispute, it is impossible to tell you whether your claim will stick in Florida courts. Good luck.

Re: Failure to deliver purchased goods

I am not sure of the amount of money in question, but one step I would recommend before you pursue legal remedies would be to call Contact 13, a consumer unit that is a part of the ABC affiliate here in Las Vegas. They investigate consumer claims and help these same consumers recover their money if they have been scammed or ripped off. You can learn about how to contact them at www.13insidelasvegas.com/contact13/, or contact them directly at (702) 368-2255. This may likely be the best remedy before you start expending legal fees. Please let me know if I can be of further help.
