Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Nevada

I owe a collection agency for a hospital bill to UMC from May of 2007 that I have been unable to pay.The bill was $10,000 back then,I don't know if they have charged other fees to it since then.My Mom would like to write it in her will that I will inherite her house when she's gone.If she wills me the house can the collection agency take it from me?I am worried I will end up on the street if that happens.

It is possible if they sue you for it and win. You could settle with them, probably for a small percentage of the total bill, cause by the sound of it, they will never get the money otherwise. Or your mother could put the house in a Trust for you. A trust is a separate entity from a person which can hold all kinds of property for the benefit of a person called the beneficiary. I believe you could be both the trustee and the beneficiary. Meaning - you manage the house and Trust as Trustee and you get to live in the house as beneficiary. The trust doesn't owe the money to greedy UMC you do.
